Fallen Trees,
Given a Second Chance.

Every table begins as a walnut slab that once stood as a tree. We frame it, pour it, and sand it — until it's ready to live again as your family's heirloom.

Commission a Piece See the Work

Standing

A walnut grows for eighty years, recording every season in its grain.

Fallen

A storm, a road crew, a forgotten lot. Most of these trees become firewood.

Rescued

We find the ones worth saving — the quilted grain, the wild live edges, the character.

Heirloom

Months later it anchors a home or a boardroom, ready for its next hundred years.

It started with a downed tree across a mountain road in Breckenridge — cut to length right there in the street, hauled out on a snow sled, and turned into a fireplace mantle. Thirty-three years of carpentry and general contracting later, that instinct became Second Chance Slabs.

Inside the Craft

Built Slowly.
Built to Outlast Us.

No two slabs are alike — a branch that quilted the grain, an edge the forest distressed. We look for the character most mills throw away, then spend weeks bringing it to light.

No. 1

Dining & Conference Tables

Statement pieces up to 28 feet — book-matched walnut, epoxy rivers, and custom edge profiles built for homes and boardrooms that want something no showroom carries.

No. 2

Coffee & Sofa Tables

Smaller-scale pieces with the same obsession — like our distressed walnut sofa table poured with Colorado river rock, sold within days of finishing.

No. 3

Mantels & Wall Art

It started with a fallen tree in Breckenridge that became a fireplace mantle. Reclaimed timbers and rare slabs, turned into the centerpiece of a room.

In the Maker's Words
“This piece of wood was once a tree. Now it's in somebody's house, it's an heirloom — and it's been given a second chance.”
The idea behind Second Chance Slabs
Design Your River

Choose Your Color.

That second chance starts with a color. Eye Candy pigments tint the epoxy — browse the palette, pick your shade, and watch the river take shape.

Color is approximate — resin depth and pigment concentration shift the final result. We pour a physical sample before your order.

Commissions

Built one at a time.
Booked the same way.

Every table is made to order in a shop that takes on a few pieces at once — which is exactly why they turn out the way they do. Current builds include a pair of book-matched conference tables that will meet end-to-end at 28 feet.
